Some of her favorite roles include: Madame Arcati in Blithe Spirit, Mrs. Meers in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Angela Forrester in Murder Among Friends, Dolly Levi in The Matchmaker, and Aurelia in The Mad Woman of Chaillot.
Kathleen McCook has been a part of the Stage Door Players family for 10 years, and is happy to be returning to Robert's playground. Past Stage Door Players shows include: "Beached Wails" (Katie), "High Society" (Mother Lord), "Company" (Sarah), and "The World Goes Round;" as well as five years of SDP's annual "Christmas Ceilidh." Other Atlanta stage credits include: "Gypsy" (Electra), "Steel Magnolias" (M'Lynn), "A Little Night Music" (Desiree), and numerous cabarets. Kathleen can also be found performing with the Celtic pub band "Squinting Patrick." Thanks to Robert and Dina, and much love and thanks to Don for keeping the four furry children under control. Slainte!
Karen Whitaker has performed in theatre for over 46 years. In Atlanta she has worked with Aurora Theatre, Art Station, OnStage Atlanta, Theatre Emory, and Process Theatre, among others. Previous SDP roles include Julia in Lend Me a Tenor, Charlotte Hay in Moon Over Buffalo, and Grace in Bus Stop (Woodie Award). Other favorites include Lexie in Dixie Swim Club, Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Doris in Same Time, Next Year, Kitty in Perfect Arrangement (MAT Award) and Mame in Mame. Karen was also honored to play the infamous actress, Tallulah Bankhead, at the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC. Over her 31 years in Atlanta theatre, other favorite credits include Parallel Lives – The Kathy and Mo Show (a two-woman show in which she played 17 different characters), Della's Diner – Blue Plate Special (Della), Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (Miss Mona), I Do! I Do! (Agnes), A Little Night Music (Desiree), Singin' in the Rain (Lina Lamont and, much later, Dora Bailey), and Mating Habits of the Urban Mammal (Martha). By day, you can find her managing projects, leading process improvement and herding cats at Georgia Transmission Corporation.
Ann Wilson can't believe her good fortune to be at Stage Door Players for a second time this season where she helped open the 43rd as Ethel Banks in Barefoot in the Park. Other Stage Door credits include Sister Mary in last season's Hail Mary and Kate Mundy in 2013's Irish drama, Dancing at Lughnasa. Ann has worked in theatres around the country in places like New York, North Carolina and Texas. Now, a longtime Atlanta resident, she's been lucky to work with many of Atlanta's best, including this one, The Alliance, Horizon Theatre Company, Theatrical Outfit, Actor's Express, Essential Theatre , Georgia Ensemble Theatre, Center for Puppetry Arts, Gainesville Theatre Alliance and the late, great Theatre in the Square. This one is for those who are missed, every day.
Frank Roberts is a big fan of Robert and all the gang at Stage Door. So grateful to be working here! Frank is a former teacher and travel consultant, who chose to lose his mind one day and become an actor. Grateful, again, for having done so. Favorite roles include Lee in TRUE WEST, most ably directed by Kenneth Roberts; Dad in THE DREAMER EXAMINES HIS PILLOW, directed by Chris Coleman; and Gould in SPEED-THE-PLOW, sharing the stage with Jared Simon. With love to Dina and my family. Thank you, patrons, for supporting live theater!
